Polypropylene fibres tested for colour fastness

Since we respond to market demands, we had colour fastness of our several most popular colours of polypropylene multifilament fibre tested by several different methods. The tests were performed by Textile Testing Institute in Brno. The methodology of the first test of colour fastness in water was in accordance with the ČSN EN ISO 105-E01 standard. Staining of fabric according to grey scale in accordance with the ČSN EN ISO 105-A03 standard and the numeric value of change in colour according to the ČSN EN 20105-A02 standard were used. The fibers’ performance was great – the resulting values ranged from 4 to 5 (where 5 means maximum colour fastness).

Another test performed by the Institute was the test of colour fastness to rubbing according to the ČSN EN ISO 105-X12 standard and of colour fastness to acidic and alkaline perspiration according to the ČSN EN ISO 105-E04 standard. Rubbing colour fastness was evaluated using a numeric value of fabric staining according to grey scale in accordance with the ČSN EN ISO 105-A03 standard, as well. Colour fastness to acidic and alkaline perspiration was evaluated by numeric value of fabric staining according to grey scale in accordance with the ČSN EN ISO 105-A03 standard, and by numeric value of change in colour according to the ČSN EN 20105-A02 standard. The results of testing by both methods and interpretation of results were excellent for all the tested colours of fibres, with numeric values ranging between 4 and 5 (where 5 is the maximum value).
