frequently asked questions
Bulk Bags
-
How are electrostatic charges removed?
Electrostatic charges can be created when certain materials are loaded into bulk bags, and can cause the material, or the atmosphere around, to combust. The charges are removed from the bags with the help of conductive fibres that are woven into the polypropylene fabric.
-
What are the delivery terms?
Once the terms of the order have been approved by both the customer and LANEX a.s., delivery takes from 2-4 weeks.
-
How do I know which type of LANEX a.s. bulk bag is most suitable for a given type of material?
It depends mainly on the character of the material and the fineness of the particles. Several options are provided here, but there are many other solutions available, and we are ready to help you choose the one that is right for you. Please contact us.
-
What is the minimum quantity that can be ordered?
We try to meet the needs of all of our clients, even on orders of only a few units (samples, for example). Therefore, we don’t request a “minimum order” in our business transactions.
-
How are the bulk bags packed?
The bulk bags are packed 100 units at a time, strapped to palettes and covered by polypropylene fabric.
-
Why is it better to use bags with inner construction (Q-bags) for transportation?
Q-bags maintain their square shape better, and can save up to 30% more space during transportation and in storage. They’re also much more stable when being stacked. If you have any further questions, please contact us directly.

How to choose the right UV-stabilized rope?
The UV-stabilization of polypropylene ropes slows down the ageing process caused by UV radiation. You should have a look at the map of UV intensity to get a better idea of what you need. According to the norms established by DIN 699, a rope stabilized to 100kLy should not lose more than 50% of its strength after one year of use. In areas with a high intensity of UV radiation, we recommend the POLYS SunFix line.
-
How do you measure the strength of a rope?
Strength is measured by placing the rope under tensile pressure at a constant speed, and then gradually increasing that pressure until the rope ruptures. The point at which the rope ruptures and the location on the rope where the breakage takes place, is recorded. Tensile strength is measured in Newtons, and multiples thereof (daN = deca-Newton, kN = kilo-Newton). Any tested sample that ruptures to within 90% of the given strength standard is accepted.
-
Is it possible to produce the rope in special colours?
Yes, it is possible to combine the standard colours that LANEX a.s. produces, as well as create new colours according to the wishes of the customer. However, we do request that the customer order at least 5 tons of the new colour. If the requested colour combination is already being used by another client, we will not be able to produce that combination for the new client.
-
What is the minimal amount that can be ordered?
Though we try to be as helpful as possible to our clients, we are limited by
a) the minimum technological amount, depending on the type of material, the colours used, etc. (for example, specially made colours are subject to a 5-ton minimum order)
b) a minimum amount for transport - we try our best to limit transportation costs from affecting the price of our goods. -
What products would you recommend for fish-farming businesses?
The line of POLYS ropes, mainly twisted, up to a diameter of 38mm. For cases where higher diameters are needed (e.g. lifting or anchor ropes for fish-farms), the twisted ropes can be replaced by braided ropes (from a diameter of 44mm).
-
What are the maximum lengths of rope produced by LANEX a.s.?
twisted 3-strand rope
max length ... 3 000m (diameter 3mm)
max length ... 450m (diameter 40mm)
braided 8-strand rope
max length ... 1 800m (diameter 36mm)
max length ... 150m (diameter 104mm)
up to a diameter of 96mm, the standard coiled length of rope is 220 m
