In addition to sponsoring activities being planned in advance, LANEX a.s. supports a great number of more or less extensive projects with its products or finances in the course of the year. As these are very frequently activities which are interesting by the fact that they are realized by volunteers, enthusiasts and amateurs and because it would be a pity just to file these “little big things” away with a “settled” stamp, we decided to keep you informed about the most interesting events.

Financial support to DUHA

LANEX a.s. donated 10,000 CZK to the organization DUHA (RAINBOW), a foundation for children suffering from cerebral palsy. The foundation helps the handicapped children by organizing sport, cultural and social events focused on integration of the handicapped among the healthy and integration of the handicapped into ordinary life. The donated sum will be used for purchase of remedial aids, toys, presents, etc. For more information about this foundation visit www.duhatu.cz.

Help to schools, associations and interest organizations

Since the beginning of 2008, LANEX a.s. donated short-length ropes to the following schools and organizations:

Wandering About – a new Czech film

The Velehrad Film Studio at Olomouc is the place where director Martin Muller shoots a feature film titled Wandering About – My Magic Olomouc, and LANEX a.s. became one of the partners. “The main theme of the film is the relationship between a woman and a city, their searching, passing by, meeting. The uniqueness of the magic city of Olomouc is the scene of action which is four times visited by a Slovak girl student searching for hope, awareness and love.” LANEX a.s. delivered three bundles of hemp rope for making the film. Trying to beat the world record in freediving

In the week between 7 and 14 August, Martin Štěpánek will try to beat the world record in freediving in the constant weight category. LANEX a.s. supports this event with delivery of TENDON static ropes which will be used directly for beating the record. National championship of rescue dogs

From 5 to 7 October 2007, the national championship of rescue dogs will take place at Ostrava. This event is organized by the Rescue Brigade of Cynologists of the Moravian-Silesian Region. LANEX a.s. donated 6 pieces of TENDON ropes to the Rescue Brigade and became one of the sponsors of the event.

Whole Czechia Reads to Children

“The objective of this project is giving support to emotional (psychical, intellectual and moral) health of children and youth by means of public enlightenment, educational, organizational and promotional activities. The “Whole Czechia Reads to Children”® project was established for the community to realize the huge importance of loud reading to children for their emotional development and the formation of the habit of reading in adulthood.” On 28 June, this event took place in the Book Centre of Librex at Ostrava where Richard Krajčo read exctracts from a book by Sue Townsend to children. Terry Fox’s Run

On 15 June, The Children and Youth’s Centre at Týniště nad Orlicí organized the Terry Fox’s Run to support the treatment of cancer. LANEX a.s. donated residual lengths of ropes and cords for the accompanying programme which incorporated, among other things, presentation of low rope obstacles for the public. www.terryfox.cz

Little Kangaroo at Dolní Benešov

Little Kangaroo is an institution established by the Children-at-Risk Fund and intended for maltreated, uncared-for and abandoned children at the age from birth to adulthood. The mission of this institution is helping the children to overcome all traumas caused by the next of kin as well as to find the best possible long-term solution for their unfortunate situation. LANEX a.s. donated ropes and cords to this institution which will be used by the children for construction of rope climbing frames on the playground.

Athletes in Action

The civil society called Athletes in Action is a Christian organization which organizes sports and adventurous programmes for young people from 15 to 26 years. Most of all, the society organizes open-air weekend adventurous events that are filled with adventurous activities and sports contests as well as psychological and creative activities. In addition to this, the civil society organizes also training camps focused on training of sports events as, for example, rock climbing. Roping – course of construction of rope obstacles

JUNÁK – Union of Boy and Girl Scouts of the Czech Republic organizes regular educational seminars for rope activity instructors. Bikes for elementary school at Bolatice

LANEX a.s. donated a financial amount of 5000 CZK to the elementary school at Bolatice which will be used for purchase of bicycles. In this way, pupils will be able to take part in road traffic contests of young bikers in which they were successful several times in the past. LANEX joined a humanitarian aid project for Bangladesh

LANEX a.s. donated static ropes and accessory cords to the organization HAND FOR HELP which organizes dispatch of a special unit to Bangladesh. This unit is charged with the task to render assistance in provision of potable water to the population in the flooded area and medical care mainly to children from the most suffering regions. LANEX a.s. supported HAND FOR HELP already in 2005 in organizing a humanitarian aid project for Sri Lanka the objective of which was building of a mobile paediatric outpatient department and a field maternity hospital. The international SPELEOTEAM project

This project organized by the Association of Young Campers took place in the protected landscape area of the Moravian Karst at the end of September with the objective of establishing an international team of young people who will be able to cooperate, create and help other people without receiving a financial reward. The project arose with support from the European Commission and was focused on mountaineering and caving this year. Benefit action for children having poor eyesight

LANEX a.s. supported children handicapped by poor eyesight in a benefit action that took place at Kravaře. On Sunday 7 October 2007, the grounds of the palace gardens at Kravaře were the scene of an action the yield of which was donated to children with various degrees of handicaps. The benefit action was accompanied by a great variety of events, for instance a fashion show of a new collection designed by Blanka Karhanová with Monika Žídková, a flower show, acrobatic dancing, and many others.
