Additional news from the voyage of Lavinia around the world
The captain of LAVINIA, Pavel Jeřábek, contacted us again from his voyage around the world after some time. We are happy that both the crew and LAVINIA are in good order and anything goes according to the plan:
Last Friday LAVINIA arrived here, at Las Palmas on Gran Canaria. The voyage continues without bigger problems and we are going to spend several weeks here until the hurricane season in the Atlantic is over. I expect that some time around the 15th October 2011 we are able to set sail to Cape Verde Islands and to continue our voyage to Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina downwards to the south, and to reach the Chilean border some time in January 2012.
I have investigated really very thoroughly the possibility of sailing to Venezuela and consulted it in every possible way. Unfortunately, it is really impossible for a sailing boat to go there, it would be very hard (if not impossible) to reach that place in the time that is available – both against the wind and against the sea streams. All rushes northwardly at that time.
Now we want to consolidate after the voyage we made till this time, I repaired two sails yesterday, I want to order some spare parts, I started repairs and maintenance ... simply routine work because it’s time for it now.
Wishing you a nice day, I am sending you my regards.
Pavel

Regards also from Jana and Vojta in addition to Pavel’s.
